Saint Fittick

St. Fittick’s Day is usually celebrated on the 30th August, although it is celebrated on the 1st of September in Ireland.

The Patron Saint of gardeners, St. Fittick was seemingly of Scottish descent. He is also the patron saint of Paris taxi drivers. Mind you they have some explaining to do, as have those of Budapest who have some quite scary scams indeed. I could go on …

St. Fittick was swept from his ship during a storm and then washed ashore at Nigg Bay, Aberdeen  where he refreshed himself from a well, which took his name. He then founded a church. This church bears his name.
